Club de Niños Valiosos was one of the first initiatives that Triple-S established to support its employees after hurricane Maria, offering child care for more than 300 children aged 5 to 12 years, while their schools and day care centers remained closed.

Following the hurricane’s impact, we focused on the needs of the most vulnerable patients, those on ventilators, oxygen and dialysis. In collaboration with our partner Fresenius, the largest operator of dialysis centers in Puerto Rico and worldwide, and with the support of the National Guard, we were able to contact the totality of our 1,000 dialysis patients and ensure their access to life-saving care.

Fundación CAP is one of our people’s favorite causes. This year, in addition to a record breaking participation in the Uniendo Cabezas event —29 coworkers shaved their heads—they also managed to raise $12,000 for cancer patients at the Children’s Hospital. That’s solidarity!

Forty-five of our committed volunteers showed up at Hogar Niñito Jesús as part of the Give a Day event. During the activity, the group painted almost the entire facility to make it cozier.

In addition to the painting and maintenance work, each subsidiary took on the task of raising funds to purchase sheet sets and other essentials. A computer, printer, file, blackboard, chair and school supplies for the children were also donated.

The home, founded in 1991, provides shelter for abused children.

This year the Triple-S Golf Tournament raised $112,500 that were distributed among nine nonprofit organizations that serve the children and youth population. Some of the entities that received the donations were: Instituto Santa Ana, Hogar de Niñas de Cupey, Hidroaalfa, Caribbean 12 Step Foundation, Casa de Niños Manuel Fernández Juncos, Fundación Hogar Niñito Jesús, Hogares Rafaela Ybarra, Hospital del Niño y Make-A-Wish.

Taking part in Uniendo Cabezas has become a tradition for Grupo Triple-S employees. Our brave volunteers step up to the plate and show their solidarity by shaving their heads for this worthy cause, thereby helping kids at the Children’s Hospital. Some of them have accepted the challenge several years in a row. All the money raised is for the benefit of pediatric cancer patients and is used to purchase medical equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of the condition.

Sabemos que no hay mejor forma de agradecer las pequeñas y grandes bendiciones que recibimos que compartiendo nuestro tiempo y cariño con los que lo necesitan todo. Es por esto que la víspera de Acción de Gracias, nuestros voluntarios visitaron el Albergue El Paraíso. Este día se le ofrece a las personas sin hogar que reciben servicios en esta organización el tradicional almuerzo, y se les entrega ropa y artículos personales donados por nuestros empleados.

Physical activity and games are vital to a healthy childhood. Triple-S collaborated with the Tourism Company to renew the Garden of La Princesa so children and families who visit Old San Juan to have a place of recreation and playground. This project is aligned with our goal of promoting physical activity to reduce childhood obesity. The playing area also features the presence of Zanita, the apple character used by Triple-S as a symbol of nutrition and health, to remind children and their families the importance of a balanced diet that includes fruits and vegetables.
